After debating whether I should comment on this issue, here I am. No doubt, many of you have already heard that it seems like someone from the team leaked Bayern‘s tactics for the match against Dortmundto “Bild”. Of course, some believe Lahm did it…
Lahm’s assist in tonight’s match made me puke rainbows :) Lahm at RB is like… paradise.
What I liked even more were Robben’s and Thomas’ reactions to his assist. A sorta “oh, you little devil” moment :) The whole set-up was delicious: Robben knew Lahm would be there, and Thomas knew where he should stand to get the ball.
It’s this time of year! I wish Lahm the best of everything! May all his dreams come true! Although taking into consideration that which he says in his book, this seems to be a rather inappropriate way of congratulating him: it’s better to say this……
“I would like a defender to win [the Ballon d’Or] for the first time since Fabio Cannavaro in 2006. Step forward Philipp Lahm. He captained the Treble winners, broke through the 100-cap mark for Germany and this year and has been the best full back in the World. At 29, he is operating at the peak of his powers and there would no more deserving winner”—
So, you’ve probably read some excerpts from this interview, which Lahm and Margot Käßmann gave to the evangelistic online magazine. (She is the editor of this magazine, by the way.) I wonder how they came up with the idea of asking Lahm to take part, but…
“It’d be very funny if, in 30 years, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller and I would be in charge [at Bayern] instead of Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Thomas would be the one doing the talking in public and Philipp and I would decide on what’s supposed to happen.”—
“You could see we were weary, mentally as well as physically. But in this situation, the important thing is to take the three points. We’re looking forward to the normal week coming up now. It’s been a packed programme, especially for the internationals. We’ve changed a lot of things around, which requires plenty of concentration and alertness, but it gets to you. It’s good we can clear our heads now.”—
“We really, really struggled in the first half and we tended to lack concentration. It happens frequently after international breaks, and we need to get a grip on it as soon as we can. We switched things around a little after that and it paid off. But credit to Mainz, they made life very difficult for us.”—Philipp Lahm about the game against Mainz (via anubhz)
This quote is really cool, demonstrating the attitude some people have. The last sentence sums it all up pretty well, “Not a bad result for a player about whom hardly anyone talked after the match.” Yep.
117 touches (the highest of the team)
108 passes with 94,44% reaching the teammates (both the highest of the team)
